Happy Anniversary: ֱ turns 150
With “150 Years of Now”, the company honours its milestones and employees
Hamburg, 3 June 2025 – What started as a small printing house in Hamburg, Germany, in 1875, has grown to become one of the largest magazine publishers and commercial broadcasters in Europe, enriching the lives of millions of readers, users, listeners, and customers: This year, ֱ celebrates its 150th anniversary with a special campaign “150 Years of Now” and events to honour its biggest milestones and thank its 12,000 employees.
“150 Years of Now” stands for the company’s ability to understand and anticipate the challenges and seize the opportunities of the day as well as consistently and efficiently produce media that appeals to broad-ranging audiences throughout its 150 years of existence. This was true for humble first steps into the fast-growing print industry in the early 1900s to venturing into the world of Audio almost 100 years later and finding its most recent milestone with the acquisition of Clear Channel Europe (ֱ Outdoor) in 2025.
With 150 years of history to look back on, ֱ is ready for the future: Guided by a recalibrated Group strategy, the company invests in the digital future of its core businesses, Publishing and Audio, while the acquisition of Clear Channel Europe (ֱ Outdoor) strengthens its core media-related businesses and unlocking new digital opportunities.
